For many years, my very good friend and "lyrical tenor" (NY Times) Scott Mello and I have been itching to perform a program exclusively for voice and violin. This month we get the chance to put it together and we're performing it on two recitals in New Jersey. Part of the project involves me figuring out how to be a lute, a piano, a flute, or a continuo band all by myself. We'll be performing Dowland, Schubert, Corigliano, Cage, Ysaÿe, and one of the few pieces originally for this duo, Ralph Vaughan Williams' song cycle Along the Field, set to poems of A.E.Housman.
Two shows: Oct 6 at Christ Episcopal Church in Newton, NJ (7:30pm) and Oct 22 at The Oaks at the Macdowell Club in Denville, NJ (3pm)
